Description:
The Armadillidium maculatum, which is more communally known as the Zebra Isopod, is a standout species thanks to its bold black and white striping — unmistakably reminiscent of a zebra’s coat. Native to France, these striking isopods are not only visually captivating but also a favorite among both beginner and experienced keepers.
Care Requirements:
Zebra isopods thrive in lower humidity environments compared to many other species, making them ideal for well-ventilated terrariums or bioactive enclosures where moisture levels are more controlled. They’re active, hardy, and fascinating to watch as they roam and clean up organic matter. The Armadillidium genus does enjoy lower humidity, but this isopod enjoys levels of around 65 to 70%.
Don’t forget to add some springtails and a food source for your isopod’s health.
Add a touch of wild elegance to your collection with this eye-catching and resilient species!
